چکیده
Abstract Elongational viscosity data of well-characterized solutions 3–50% weight fraction monodisperse polystyrene PS-820k (molar mass 820,000 g/mol) dissolved in oligomeric styrene OS8.8 8800 as reported by André et al. (Macromolecules 54:2797–2810, 2021) are analyzed the Extended Interchain Pressure (EIP) model including effects finite chain extensibility. Excellent agreement between experimental and predictions is obtained, based exclusively on linear-viscoelastic characterization polymer solutions. The were obtained a filament stretching rheometer, at high strain rates lower concentrations, stretched filaments fail rupture before reaching steady-state elongational viscosity. Filament predicted criterion for brittle fracture entangled liquids, which assumes that caused scission primary C-C bonds chains when energy reaches bond-dissociation covalent bond (Wagner al., J. Rheology 65:311–324, 2021).

Elongational Viscosity of Monodisperse and Bidisperse Polystyrene Melts
The startup and steady uniaxial elongational viscosity have been measured for two monodisperse polystyrene melts with molecular weights of 52 kg/mole and 103 kg/mole, and for three bidisperse polystyrene melts. The monodisperse melts show a maximum in the steady elongational viscosity vs. the elongational rate, ǫ̇, of about two times 3η0 whereas the bidisperse melts have a maximum of up to a fac...
متن کاملPrimitive chain network simulations for elongational viscosity of bidisperse polystyrene melts
Background Due to the industrial significance, elongational viscosity of polymeric liquids has been widely investigated. In particular, strain hardening, which is the deviation of the elongational viscosity from the linear viscoelastic envelope, has been of industrial and scientific interest because polymeric liquids exhibiting strain hardening are suitable for processing technologies with elon...
متن کاملTurbulent Drag Reduction of polyelectrolyte solutions: relation with the elongational viscosity
We report measurements of turbulent drag reduction of two different polyelectrolyte solutions: DNA and hydrolyzed Polyacrylamide. Changing the salt concentration in the solutions allows us to change the flexibility of the polymer chains. For both polymers the amount of drag reduction was found to increase with the flexibility. Rheological studies reveal that the elongational viscosity of the so...
متن کاملModeling Viscosity of Multicomponent Electrolyte Solutions
A comprehensive model for calculating the viscosity of aqueous electrolyte solutions has been developed. The model includes a long-range electrostatic interaction term, contributions of individual ions, and a contribution of specific interactions between ions or neutral species. The long-range electrostatic term is obtained from the Onsager-Fuoss theory, whereas the individual ionic contributio...
متن کاملFractal Dimension of Brittle Fracture
Using a worldwide catalog of earthquakes we analyze the distribution of distances between pairs of earthquake hypocenters to determine the spatial fractal dimension 6 of an earthquake fracture. As the time span of the catalog increases, 8 asymptotically reaches the value 2.1-2.2 for shallow earthquakes. Approximately the same asymptotic value of dimension is obtained for a catalog of earthquake...
